You are more optimistic on the subject than I, having listened to some of the congressional hearings on the subject, where most of the congressman seemed clueless, but more imminently, I do not believe we can trust the tech bros, who seem to have made an about turn to the right, and thus can easily misguide the political narrative.
For the most part, they feel that democracy is a failed experiment (see the Dark Enlightenment) and that only people with their "brainy" expertise are fit to run government. All we have to do is look at Musk's great political mingling and adjustments to X and Grok and the kowtowing to Trump of the other techies, evident at his inauguration.
Remember, too, that when Zuckerberg was courting China with Facebook, he was perfectly willing to give data on users to the government before the deal fell through. And he has blocked at least one friend from telling political truth on Facebook!
