Weather Report with Pat Metheny opening at Univ of Florida bandshell free concert sometime around 1982/1983. That one show jump-started my love of jazz.
Saw Weather Report in a gymnasium in Ohio one night...Joe and Wayne and maybe Miroslav Vitous or maybe Victor Bailey, but it was early in the 70's pre Jaco. Electrifying to say the least!
I fell in love with fusion near the end of High School - '74, '75. First, Return to Forever then Weather Report. Weather Report was the next rung up musically for me. Joe and Wayne's co-writing and musical vision cam to reality with these phenomenal musicians, especially Jaco. Magic! I was fortunate to live in a time where I was able to see them live and it didn't bankrupt me, like most live performances now. "A Remark that you Made" is a standard in my opinion. Great article, as usual!
