My former therapist, Paul Pines, opened The Tin Palace. He was an extraordinary person. He unfortunately passed away from cancer in 2017. He helped me in so many ways.
Paul was managing Joe Lee Wilson when I worked with him in the 80s. For his festivals in Lake Placid and Lake George he also booked Charli Persip's Supersound in which I played lead alto, and later on he booked my own group Terra Mars. People like Paul, as well as yourself Bret, who are not players but are ardent supporters and documenters of the art form, are SO IMPORTANT to this music.
I used to love hearing Hicks, and got to play with him on many occasions, including with his big band....I think that was at the erstwhile club Lush Life.

Yes, I remember Paul.

Didn't know you worked with Joe Lee Wilson. HIs loft, Ladies Fort, was down the block from Studio Rivbea during the loft era.

Did John's big band ever record?
No, at least while I was in the band.
