The post is out of focus and I'm searching for celebrity? Or Alex, the subject?

Dear Bret,

Although not directly related, this brief article (by a screenplay writer) popped into my mind while reading your fantastic and endearing recreation of your weird and adventurous youth in the late 60's at NYC: https://www.salon.com/2017/12/30/an-bluesy-winter-night-in-new-york-with-slim-harpo/

...of your possible interest. Be safe. Tulio

Yes, must have been a great time to study film -- and in NYC. Here's "Where's Katz": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=znL6FDm3c2E I corresponded briefly with a relative of one of the crew. Good times. All the best to you and yours

Great acting in that film! Good job with the technical aspects -- lighting and sound too. My dad took a summer NYU film course in the 60's with Haig Manoogian (sp?) and enjoyed it and NYC a lot. His film was "Where's Katz" based in the delicatessen. Great story about Alex, may he rest in peace. All the best

Thanks, Paul. Glad you enjoyed it. Haig Manoogian was one of my teachers at NYU Film School, and he was a big supporter of Martin Scorsese's early work. Haig was Marty's teacher, as well, then Marty became a Professor at NYU when I was in attendance in the late 60s and early 70s. It was a great time to be a film student. I would love to see Where's Katz, about the temple of pastrami.

Nominated for best short! That took me back to the nitty gritty of NYC I remember so well. Your film was really funny, too! At one time I seriously considered driving a taxi; my Dad said he would pay me not to. Thank you, Dad (though I didn't take the bribe, nor drive a taxi).

That was a very different NYC. I feel very lucky to have been there, and survived the madness.
