I had it down to two: climate and overpopulation. We're heading into a bloodbath. I don't see 'cooperation' as a coming thing. Humans haven't gotten smart enough to work together. How do I come to grips with such dire flags flying? I don't have an answer. I keep doing what I love: playing music and writing. This is brilliant and tragic, Bret.
Perfect. You popped the bubble of absurd arguments. Both the left and the right, and everything in between will be a puddle of mud unless Americans get over the sniping and get to work on the future that is here now.
Bret, I'm afraid you're right about everything but the impact of your substack. I could only hope the DC and Silicon Valley crowd would go into an uproar about your post, but even if they read it, they'd shrug it off like the shrug everything off that is not a dollar bill. Their ethos, as you know, is get what you can, get it fast, and fuck anybody who gets in the way.
I—unfortunately—agree with everything you’ve written here. You have the courage to say it as it is, or at least as you truly see it. However, I take exception to your solution for confronting Putin and Russia regarding the EU and NATO. I’m not a historian, but I have a decent understanding of civilisation’s history. I can’t think of many cases where engaging in an arms race hasn’t eventually led to belligerence or outright war. Sorry, I don’t have a solution at hand. I suggest that one service humankind could perform before we go extinct would be to seed the possibility of solving this problem as a task for our successor robots.
The last book by James Hillman was "A Terrible Love Of War". I've loved HIllman for many decades. This book brings a fresh insight, but, alas, it's not going to stop War. I'm not sure war can ever be stopped. HIllman stops just short of stating that War is necessary. I can't quit3e get there but I think about it. I fear the 21st may be worse than the 20th. THAT's why I worry about my kids and their kids, etc.
Nothing against pandas 🐼 but I’m more of a tree hugger. Current events have become overwhelming for me so I’m glad you’re still saving the world 🌎. Can’t argue with anything you say and happy you have the energy and focus to keep on keeping on, amigo! 💗xoxo. M

Arthur, please continue doing what you're doing, playing music and writing!

Thank you Robert, Bret is a great writer. It is here and it is now or it will be a long time before any new normal.
You’re on a roll amigo. #Respect for your clear-spoken ‘wokeness.’ This is a brilliant summation of the moment.
Sadly it would seem America is “stuck in a moment that you can’t’ get out of…” (U2)

"So pour yourself a drink. Put on some Coltrane. And start thinking like the species depends on it."
Bingo.

Cuts to the chase, Bret. Thanks for that!
