Great bird footage Bret, and I love Denny's interpretation of the song. Have you heard Nancy Reed's recording of it? Once I walked into the Deer Head late at night, after a gig. The club was packed. Nancy was singing The Peacocks. You could hear a pin drop.
Thank you so much for this. "Quiet Now" is one of my favorite Bill Evans interpretations. Denny Zeitlin's original is so soothing. Like you stated, I can only hope that when I'm 86 years old I am still as creative as I am now.
Thanks for this Bret. I’m delighted to hear that some of the trio tracks from Mezzrow are included in this collection. Due to arthritis I’m no longer able to tolerate jazz club hangs. One of the last gigs I was able to joyfully attend was a Zeitlin Trio night at Mezzrow in 2016. Mr. Z is a treasure indeed.
I have always enjoyed Denny, not the least because I am a practicing physician by day and a jazz pianist/bassist by night.
The Peacocks: just gorgeous, musically and visually. Thank you.
What is it about peacocks this week? https://alkisteriopoulos.substack.com/p/peacocks?

No, I will check that out. Did you know Jimmy Rowles? Quite a character!

Never met him, but I did try. Initially, as a medical student and then as a psychology doctoral student. No luck!

Chuck, I'm sorry to learn of your condition. Those live webcasts from Small's and Mezzrow are a godsend. Please take care.
Appreciate it, Bret. Keep on! 😎
