Zweig did not survive to the turmoil of the 20th century. We did. Let's survive to the challenges of the 21st. Let's find hope in darkness. The water may be filthy, the mud thick and gloomy, but the lotus will grow wide and beautiful.
I like your outlook on life. I know several people who have suffered less than you and yet still complain about their situation, even though their situation is envied by others who are less fortunate. Dharma.
Ram Dass used to refer to himself as a "Bu-Jew" at times when asked his backround. Interesting for a cat whose primary epiphanal moment came literally at the feet of one of the great Hindu masters. There are a lot of similarities to both our lives, perhaps that's one of the reasons I enjoy your writing and videos so much. I am very much looking forward to seeing the movie about Horace Silver when it premieres.
Thanks Jim. I appreciate the kind words. As for the documentary about Horace, I've got a long way to go. But like climbing a mountain, I'm enjoying the journey. Please take care.
Bret, we have so much in common! I'll be 77 in December. My health is pretty steady: kidney problems, ehhh. My music flourishes! I began piano study five years ago. I'd always written music on piano (I was a drummer) but now I enhance my skills exponentially. Who knew that at this age I would have a surge of powerful creativity!? BTW, a friend asked me if I knew of a San Miguel in your area. That would be a very common name but he's headed that way soon. I've enjoyed your comments on aging. AFAIK I've never been this old before. What an experience!
Your reflections on aging; the wisdom and the hardships, was inspiring. After reading your piece I thought about how grateful I should be for my 77 years of life's experiences.

Thanks, Jeremy, I actually feel a lot more hopeful since I moved to Mexico.
